About the candles: Nostalgic candles are made with 100% soy wax from the USA. Soy wax is superior to what many “store” candle brands use (paraffin wax). Soy wax also helps support local farmers. Many of the candles are made without dye so that there is a minimalistic quality to the candles, “less is better,” and for an olfactory nostalgic experience. However, there is an exception to that as some candles in the fandom line and others that just seem better with a little color. The wicks are lead free and the glass containers are made from recycled glass. The fragrances are made of a blend of essential oils and fragrance oils for a superior scent throw. I purchase from primarily small companies owned by individuals in the South as a way to shop as local as possible. All 8 oz. candles have an approximate burn time of 40-50 hours.
Candles perform best once cured for approximately 14 days. Therefore, when you receive your candle it may be best to allow it to cure for approximately 7 days prior to burning for best quality burn. Make sure wick is trimmed to 1/4 inch at all times and when first burning allow to burn for for between 2 and 3 hours. I have read different numbers on different websites, but it seems what is most important is that all of the wax on the surface has become liquid. this will prevent the wax from tunneling around the wick. Blog post soon to come on candle troubleshooting! Soy wax is prone to frosting and some pitting due to the nature of the wax. This is normal and will not effect the quality of your candle.
Processing times may vary depending on the day of the week the candles were ordered. I typically prefer to ship between M-W so that the candles do not have to remain anywhere for long if the shipping company is closed on weekend days. If it is extremely hot weather, the candle may melt some during shipping. If that happens then place the candle on an even surface and allow it to cool in a room temperature environment sitting straight up. It should form back to it’s original shape. Send an email if you need assistance. We currently only ship to the United States.
*For orders over 20 candles please email me for information on shipping/scents that may be sold out. If you order over more than 20 without emailing me, your order is subject to cancellation.
*Local pickups are at the discretion of Nostalgic Candles. If you work with, personally know, or are convenient to provide a local pickup to ,then the shipping price can possibly be removed. To determine if you are eligible for local pickup, contact the owner at nostalgiccandles@yahoo.com or through facebook messenger.
Returns/Exchanges will be made at the discretion of Nostalgic Candles. Please contact to determine if you are eligible to return or exchange an item. We want you to be happy with your purchase, but will need more information on what the situation is to determine if it falls within the return policy. Returns must be communicated within 7 days of receiving the item. If you are unhappy with a scent then an exchange can be made, but you will be liable for return shipping. If the product is damaged or defective send an email with pictures and describe what is going on to determine eligibility for a replacement.
If your favorite candle scent is not available please send an email or message letting us know and if there is enough interest in that scent we will make efforts to create it. There are so many scents out there and we are always exploring and innovating. We want our customers to find the scents they are looking for 🙂
Safety Basics
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep burning candles away from flammable materials, children, and pets.
- Do not place candles on or near other heat sources.
- Burn the candles on heat resistant, even surfaces in areas that the candle will not be likely to fall or be knocked over.
- Extinguish candles with great care ensuring that hot wax does not splatter (using a snuffer will help).
- Never extinguish candles with water because this can cause hot wax to splatter or glass container to break.
- Keep the hot wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches, or any other flammable materials.
- Never burn a candle while in bed or when you may be at risk for falling asleep.
- If a candle flame is too high, flickering, or behaving oddly, extinguish the candle.
- Never burn a candle all of the way down.
- Don’t burn candles if someone is on oxygen in the home.
- Choose an area away from drafts, open air vents, or ceiling fans.
- Extinguish the flame if it gets too close to the container. For a margin of safety, discontinue burning a candle when ½ inch of wax remains.
- Be careful using candles during a power outage because if it is difficult to see it is more likely a candle will be knocked over or burned for too long at a time.
- Do not move a lit candle
- Failure to follow proper burning instructions could result in fire hazard or injury.
